A storefront message does not prove that checkout blocking is enabled. First check shop-level Checkout Validation, the rule's validation switch, and Allow all customers to complete checkout. Then verify that the cart, customer, and time actually match the rule.
Check the checkout protection settings
- In the app Dashboard, review Enable checkout validation. Confirm that the function for your rule type is enabled; an enabled function for a different type does not protect this rule.
- Open the target rule, confirm it is active, and turn on Enable checkout validation. Save the rule.
- In Settings / Preferences, review Allow all customers to complete checkout. Turn it off and save if you want limits enforced.
- Refresh the dashboard status, then retry checkout from the storefront.
See Enable checkout validation for the full setup.
Check whether the cart really matches the rule
For a “maximum two items per order” rule, test two units of the same in-scope product, then three units. If three still pass, check whether the product or variant was selected correctly, excluded from the rule, restricted to certain customer tags, subject to a login condition, or outside the effective time window.
For purchase frequency rules, check whether this purchase should count in the selected period. Orders placed before the rule was created are not counted, and near-simultaneous checkouts can be affected by platform synchronization delays. Read Purchase frequency limits and Why duplicate orders can occur.
If you still cannot find the cause
Record the rule name and type, cart items and quantities, test customer state, entry point, checkout error message, and test time. Repeat the full verification checklist, then provide those details to support. They help distinguish a rule configuration issue from an entry-point issue.
Use a test product or cart to check the outcome before applying this setup across your store.
