How to edit limit messages and translations

Edit multilingual limit, login, and frequency messages on the Translation tab and save the changes.

2 min read

Use the rule editor's Translation tab to write the minimum, maximum, login, and frequency messages customers see. Each language has its own text. After editing, use the page Save action; changing tabs alone does not save the text.

Edit and save messages

  1. Open the rule. For a new rule, finish General and save the rule first.
  2. Switch to Translation and select a language tab. Check the read-only Language ISO.
  3. Edit the relevant Minimum/Maximum … limit message, Not logged in message, or Frequency limit message.
  4. Fill in other languages separately. Use Set as default if another language should be the default.
  5. Click the page Save, confirm it succeeded, reopen the rule to check the text, and use the verification guide to inspect storefront and checkout messages.

Example: Clarify a maximum quantity

For a maximum of three items, use an English maximum quantity message such as “Each order can contain at most 3 eligible items.” Add the equivalent text in the other language tabs. Trigger the rule with four matching items and check the language and number shown.

Messages change what customers read, not the limit or trigger timing; edit those on General. Changes on Translation remain pending until saved. Copy or insert placeholders from the editor's Variables list to avoid misspellings. Storefront messages also require the Theme App Embed; checkout blocking has its own validation settings.
