How to enable Shopify Checkout Validation for purchase limits

Checkout Validation checks applicable purchase rules during checkout. For an active rule to block a noncompliant checkout, both the shop-level validation function and the rule-level validation switch must be enabled.

Step 1: Check shop-level validation

1. Open the app Dashboard and find Enable checkout validation.
2. Review the status of the validation functions. If validation is off or partially enabled, use the enable button.
3. Refresh the status and confirm that the function for your rule type is enabled. An order limit, for example, uses the Order limit function.

The dashboard reports validation for order, collection, product, variant, total, product access, and purchase combination rules separately. A partially enabled status means some rule types do not have shop-level checkout protection.

Step 2: Check the rule-level switch

Open the target rule, confirm that the rule is active, and turn on Enable checkout validation in its editor. Save the change, then check the dashboard again.

Step 3: Check the checkout bypass preference

In Settings / Preferences, review Allow all customers to complete checkout. Turn it off and save if your goal is to enforce purchase limits. When it is enabled, customers can complete checkout without limit restrictions.
