PURCHASE LIMITS / GUIDE 15

How to manage existing purchase limit rules

Find, edit, activate, deactivate, duplicate, and delete Soply Purchase Limits rules, then check whether they take effect.

2 min read

Use the list for each limit type to search, filter, and manage rules. Only an Active rule can take effect. To block an over-limit checkout, both rule-level and shop-level checkout validation must also be on.

Find and update a rule

  1. Under Limits, open the order, collection, product, variant, or total limit list. Product access and purchase combination rules have separate Access rules and Combinations navigation entries.
  2. Search by rule name or filter by All / Active / Draft. Check the scope, limit, frequency, and time shown in the list.
  3. Open a rule and change its target, conditions, limits, or status in General. Click Save when changes are pending.
  4. To change customer-facing text, open Translation, edit the relevant language, and save again.
  5. Return to the list to check status. Use the verification guide to test a passing and an over-limit cart.

Activate, deactivate, duplicate, or delete

The list provides activation, deactivation, and deletion actions. The editor also provides Duplicate as new rule; review the new rule's targets and conditions before using it. Deletion has a confirmation dialog. Deactivate a rule when you only need to pause it.

Example: Pause a promotion limit

Suppose “Weekend maximum: 2 items” is still listed after the promotion ends. Filter to Active, find it, and deactivate it. Before the next promotion, reopen the rule, check its schedule, limit, and messages, then activate and test it again.

An Active badge alone does not prove checkout will be blocked. Check the rule's Enable checkout validation, shop-level checkout validation, customer conditions, and schedule. Some existing rule targets cannot be rebound; if the editor says the target cannot be changed, duplicate the rule as a new one.

If you are unsure which rule to create, start with choosing a limit type.

Keep going

Use a test product or cart to check the outcome before applying this setup across your store.
