How to Read Raw Material Inventory Snapshots and Operation Audit Logs

If a material quantity is unexpected, inspect the history before making another stock adjustment. Inventory snapshots answer when and why a quantity changed. Operation audit logs help trace manual configuration and actions.

Open inventory snapshots

Find the material in Raw Materials and open Raw material snapshots from its row actions. Filter by date range and review the time, event type, reason, delta, and quantity after the event. When relevant, narrow by source, order channel, location, or inventory item. Open a row's detail action for more source information.

For example, if availability moved from 100 to 70, find a -30 change and check whether it came from an order, reservation, manual adjustment, or another event. The final number alone does not identify the cause.

Open operation audit logs

Use the material's operation-log action from its list or edit page. Filter by date, operation type, or the target material to investigate a configuration, status, or stock change. Audit logs describe actions; snapshots describe inventory outcomes. Both may be needed for one investigation.

Investigate in a useful order

1. Record the current Recorded stock and Available to use amounts.
2. Find the first unexpected snapshot and check its time, delta, and source.
3. Compare the related Shopify order, refund, reservation, or source-product inventory.
4. If the event followed a manual change, inspect operation audit logs.
5. Correct stock or a product binding only after identifying the cause.

If a filter shows no records, widen the date range or clear filters. Also confirm that you opened the intended raw material.
